Apply by New Scoring Criteria to Work in Taiwan

Here’s a step-by-step guide for overseas and international graduates preparing to work in Taiwan through the new Scoring Comment System:

  1. After Graduation & Job Seeking: After graduation, students holding a student residence permit must apply to the National Immigration Agency for a job-seeking residence permit from the date of graduation. If necessary, students may apply for an additional extension before the period ends, during which they are not allowed to work. Starting in 2024, the validity of this permit has been extended from six months to one year, with the possibility of renewing it once.
  2. Get an Offer & Apply for Work Permit: After receiving an offer (The employer should be eligible to hire an expat), graduates should submit the Scoring Criteria form and required documents to the employer. If applying for a job through the Scoring Comment System, you need to accumulate at least 70 points. The employer will then apply to the Ministry of Labor for a work permit online (Foreign Professionals Work Permit Application Network), on your behalf. The Ministry of Labor completes the review within 7 working days from the day the case is accepted.
  3. Conversion to Work Visa: Once the work permit is obtained, you must apply to the National Immigration Agency to convert your job-seeking residence permit into a work residence visa.
