* In New Taipei, Taiwan, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer’s next generation networks. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
* This person will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of innovative optical networking devices and systems. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical aspects of these optical products from concept to production, collaborating with global team, engineers, scientists, and customers, and ensuring the highest quality and performance of these devices. You will work with multi-discipline teams including: Product line managers, PCB designers, electrical, mechanical, software, and optical engineering teams.
What You Will Do
• Design & develop wavelength selective switch (WSS) systems and related product from concept through mass production.
• Generate mechanical designs and models by using CAD, create test plans, technical documents, reports, and presentations, perform tolerance analysis, characterize devices, generate engineering changes, release drawings for fabrication, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause
• Work with multi-functional team members to optimize and finalize design for full production and to meet all specifications
• Support process development and production teams
• Perform and/or support design verification, reliability, and failure analysis to ensure that design meets all specifications and customer requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related technical field or discipline
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical system design and development
• Solid fundamental knowledge and expertise in electro-mechanical designs and assemblies, such as telecommunications, data communications, consumer or industrial products, robotics, computers, embedded system, mobile phones, automotive, etc.
• Solid experience using CAD tools, such as SolidWorks and Creo
• Familiar with DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE
• Familiar with design for manufacturing and yield
• Demonstrated ability to analyze information and solve problems
• Good verbal and written skills for exchange of information in a clear and concise manner
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Experience in leading projects, coordinating team members, ensuring on-time delivery and within budget
• Experience in mentoring other engineers
• Provided technical advice to management and other engineers
• Ability to speak and communicate in English
What Will Put You Ahead (other requirements)
• MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field related technical discipline
• 8+ years of mechanical system design and process development of optical products
• Experience with opto-mechanical devices or components or modules, such as transceivers, projector, camera module, VR, etc.
• Familiarity or ability to perform FEA simulation using Ansys Mechanical or other tools
