Job Description
DuPont Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Technology group is seeking a Pad Material Research Scientist in Pad R&D team located in Jhunan, TW. The candidate will be responsible to develop innovative CMP pad product, drive fundamental understanding of product performance in target applications, and support key customer engagement to drive new product adoption. The candidate will work in a cross functional team in a global setting with partners from Marketing, Process Development, Scale-up, Application, and Analytical Science to resolve a variety of CMP pad material and engineering related problems.
Key Responsibilities are:
• Lead new product development and explore new technology directions for DuPont CMPT's industrial leading CMP pad product pipeline.
• Provide technical support for new product customer engagement to bridge the needs in advanced node with DuPont CMPT's innovative pad portfolio.
• Develop fundamental understandings of CMP pad property to performance relationship for new products and key applications with advanced knowledge of scientific principles, experimental design, and advanced characterization.
• Provide technology reviews and training courses to both external and internal customers.
• Document work in a timely fashion in data books, internal reports, patent disclosures, and external publications as appropriate.
• Communicate results and progress to technical teams, management, and business leadership through written report and oral presentations.

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines
• 3 years of industrial experience in CMP consumable product R&D or CMP process development.
• Strong background in polymer science, material characterizations, or semiconductor fabrication technology with proven record.
• Demonstrated ability to examine structure-property relationships of polymer materials.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking with the ability to make data driven decisions and actionable recommendations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong project management skills and ability to execute complex projects and navigate multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with a variety of analytical techniques, such as NMR, GPC, FT-IR, SEM, DMA, TGA, DSC, etc.
• Successful candidate should have strong collaborative R&D mindset.
• Fluent in English.
• This position has travel requirements of up to 15% globally.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 years of industrial experience in CMP consumable product R&D or CMP process development.
• Experience in polyurethane manufacturing and/or product development.
• Experience in Stage Gate type of new product development process.
• Experience in customer support and new product engagement.
• Six sigma certifications, experience in Design of Experiment principles and statistical data analysis.
